What is a PickBox?

A PickBox is not just a collection of videos. It is a way of turning selected videos into a meaningful experience.

Your perspective, your order, your reason for choosing — that is what creates the story.

This guide walks you step by step so anyone can build with confidence.

STEP 01

Build the Video Flow

  • What to pay attention to

💡 Order matters more than quantity
  • 3–12 videos is ideal.
  • Be willing to remove similar ones.

STEP 02

Write a Clear Box Introduction

① Title — Make the theme obvious

In one short line, show who it is for and in what situation.

Examples
• 7 Economic Podcasts for Your Commute
• Autumn Work BGM for Focus
• A 3-Month Guitar Path for Beginners

② Description — Explain “Who, Why, What”

A strong introduction answers:

  • Who is this for?
  • Why did you choose these?
  • What is included?

Three points are enough.

③ Tags — Help people find it

Use 3–6 specific keywords.

Selection criteria build trust

A PickBox is not a place for creating new videos. It is a place for giving meaning to existing videos.

When you make your selection criteria clear:

  • Trust is built
  • You save viewers’ time
  • Your point of view becomes visible

Selection criteria do not have to be complicated.

Included because:

  • What I personally found important
  • Why this video belongs here
  • Why I placed it in this order

Excluded because:

  • It was too similar to another video
  • The information was useful, but it disrupted the flow
  • It was too long or too difficult for beginners
Example
At first, I considered 50 videos, but narrowed them down to 12 that beginners could follow through to the end. I excluded videos that were too repetitive or did not fit the overall flow.

STEP 03

Publishing settings

  • Public: Anyone can view it
  • Private: An archive just for you
  • Draft: Save it for later edits

STEP 04

Before publishing

  • Can someone seeing it for the first time understand it within three seconds?
  • Does the flow feel natural?
  • Is it easy to read on mobile?
  • Are there any typos or repeated expressions?

Checklist

Are the videos connected to one another?
Is there too much information?

Is the title intuitive?
Does it show who it is for, why it was made, and what it contains?
Are the selection criteria visible?

Is the number of videos appropriate?
Do the first one or two videos create a good flow?
Would you want to watch it again?

Curation Style

It does not have to be perfect.

Be honest, thoughtful, and not exaggerated.

  • This was the order that helped me most when I first started learning.
  • I only included videos that I tried myself and found easy to understand.
  • At first, I collected 30 videos, but after watching them again, I narrowed the list down to 10.

How YouTube Creators Can Use PickBox

Add your own commentary and perspective to videos you have already uploaded on YouTube, and regroup them into themed PickBoxes.
